COVID-19 information
COVID-19 has impacted all services at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB). Many of our research studies are currently paused but we hope to restart them soon.
The General Surgery Research team provides evidence based care for patients. We focus on new treatments for patients diagnosed with certain cancers arising from the bowel and upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract and lead the way on surgical site infection research.
Our team run a mixture of commercial and academic trials with over 20 studies adopted onto the National Institute for Health Research portfolio.
We believe that everyone can be involved in research and we engage with patients and medical staff to help shape future research.
